What they learned was reported back to the government. The Chinese government typically targeted families of those who were detained in the government\u2019s \u201cre-education\u201d centers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chinafile.com\/reporting-opinion\/postcard\/million-citizens-occupy-uighur-homes-xinjiang\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to<\/a> American anthropologist Darren Byler, the spies are told to watch for signs of an extreme attachment to Islam, the report states.<\/p>\n<p>The spies themselves \u201crelatives\u201d of the families they are spying on.<\/p>\n<h3>What are they looking for?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cHad a Uighur host just greeted a neighbor in Arabic with the words \u2018Assalamu Alaykum\u2019? That would need to go in the notebook,\u201d said Byler, in research <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chinafile.com\/reporting-opinion\/postcard\/million-citizens-occupy-uighur-homes-xinjiang\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> by Asia Society\u2019s Centre on US-China Relations. \u201cWas that a copy of the Quran in the home? Was anyone praying on Friday or fasting during Ramadan? Was a little sister\u2019s dress too long or a little brother\u2019s beard irregular?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Byler\u2019s claims appear to be supported by the Communist Party\u2019s official newspaper, the People\u2019s Daily. By the end of September, the government had paired more than 1.1 million Chinese citizens\u00a0 paired with 1.69 million ethnic minority citizens in China, the outlet <a href=\"http:\/\/gongyi.people.com.cn\/n1\/2018\/1107\/c151132-30386143.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those who have spent time with the Uighur Muslims claim they were put through an intensive indoctrination program and were encouraged to \u201crenounce Islam and instead heap praise on the Chinese Communist Party,\u201d according to the Independent.<\/p>\n<p>Uighur Muslims have also been subjected to round-ups for placement in government \u201cre-education\u2019 centers,\u201d the Independent reported. A former inmate of the program claimed Muslim inmates were forced to eat pork and drink alcohol. Additionally, there are reports that they must surrender religious items such as the Quran or face \u201charsh punishments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the government is reportedly taking away Uighur children and placing them in orphanages, even if their parents are still alive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChinese authorities have also been accused of putting Uighur children and those from other ethnic minority groups into state-run orphanages across the western Xinjiang region, even if their parents were not dead, as some one million adults in their families were sent to internment camps,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n<h3>Anything else?<\/h3>\n<p>China is also in the international spotlight for its nationwide behavioral <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/news\/2018\/04\/24\/china-uses-nationwide-scoring-system-to-keep-millions-of-people-with-low-scores-from-traveling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scoring system<\/a> that is already limiting travel for people with low scores.<\/p>\n<p>Read Source: \u00a0https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/newsfront\/chinese-muslim-homes-beliefs\/2018\/11\/25\/id\/891877\/<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Blaze The Chinese government forcibly placed more than one million civilians into the homes of Uighur Muslim families in Xinjiang to spy on their daily activities and determine if they display extreme Islamic or \u201cunpatriotic beliefs,\u201d the Independent reported.
